BRIGHT LIGHT!

We still think it's super bright but it's green... and it's not easy being green :)  I love it but it doesn't really match the "calmness" of the living room.  Does that matter?  Is it okay to have different emotions in rooms that are connected by a doorway?  What do you think?  I'm still trying to figure out what to do as far as window treatments.  I'll be putting up the blue curtains that we had up for the time being just so that there is some privacy... even if it isn't "pretty".

A little project...

Painted white and green knob tops.

Should have painted this a LONG time ago.  I love it.

Now mind you... I'm not done...  I need window treatments.  I'm thinking of painting the table, the sideboard, and maybe even the cupboards and cabinets.  I'd love new flooring, counter tops and appliances too but that's not in the budget right now.

Don't forget to look at the before pictures to see what we've been living in for the past five years and it only took three days to flip it into this :)

Day 2

Today I spackled, primed, and even managed to get the first coat on all the trim and the bead board.  Yes, I painted the bead board.  Originally I wasn't going to... but then, after some late night searching online it looks better to me!

Tomorrow... I'm thinking a 2nd layer on the trim and bead board and crossing my fingers on getting into the COLOR :)

I HATE WALLPAPER!

Ugh.  Thankfully this is the last room that has this stupid wallpaper in it from the previous owners of the house.  Well there is some in the basement but we like it :)

What this really means is that this is the 2nd to last room that hasn't had "our touch" put on it yet.  When we moved in just over 5 years ago we worked immediately on our living room since that was the world's biggest eye sore!  Then we worked on the master bedroom, the upstairs bathroom, the down stairs bathroom and the guest bedroom (hmmm guess I didn't blog that!?!?!).  This left only our kitchen and the third bedroom.

I was able to get a bunch of free samples of paint from Glidden that added up to be a gallon of paint.  Thankfully a few of my friends live in apartments and can't or won't paint so I was able to use their addresses to send my sample to them.

I'll post more... but I hate wallpaper as of now.

Lot of projects...

So I wanted to get crafty... remember...?

Well now I'm on craft over load!  I made the wreath, and now have three other projects that I'm switching between!  Crazy right!

Well... one I work on during the day... sanding down an old cabinet/hutch that Jerome had.  I'm going to make it into something we can use in our basement hopefully.  So far, so good.  Mind you, this piece has been in our garage here since we moved here and was up for sale in one if not two of our garage sales... guess it was meant to stay with us!

A second project is really on the back burner... I started it and am to the point where I think I could start putting it together... but I'm hoping for some advice and maybe guidance from a certain someone who I haven't told yet :)

The third project I started a LONG time ago... back when I worked in corporate land.  I'm back at it after putting my fingers on some knitting needles this past weekend while hanging out with Lisa and her mom at a craft sale.  Yup... I still got it :)

Frugal Crafting

So I saw this cute idea on a site and thought... hey... I can do that! And I could! And all for under $4... now that's what I call frugal.

You can get your supplies at the Dollar Tree for the most part. The foam ring, the ribbon and even the mini glue gun glue (not the actual gun... at least not at my Dollar Tree).  The beige coffee filters were bought at Cub Foods since my Dollar Tree only carried white coffee filters... but I'm thinking that I may make a white one too now!

I needed something to set my glue gun on and went searching for a paper plate when gasp... I saw on the counter a lid to a soup can, thanks hubby.  I ran it under the faucet and was good to go!

So start with a coffee filter.

Fold the filter in half.

Then fold it in half again.

Run a dab of hot glue on the ring.

Place the tip of the coffee filter on the ring in the glue.  Try not to burn yourself or you'll end up with a nice little blister... not that I know anything about that though.

When I was adding mine I did four coffee filters left to right on the ring and then two filters up and down, repeat.

I added a little loop on the back for hanging.

Here's the completed wreath.  I thought it needed a wee bit more... thus the off center ribbon was made.

I ended up needing a long piece of ribbon to hang it over the mirror (which is how I originally saw this craft on a site).  Not sure if I like it there... but I do know that I like the wreath itself!

So cute, so crafty, so frugal.

Do you have...

any jeans?

I'm looking for any size (men, woman, teen, kids), any wash (light, dark, tinted), and it they have holes or stains in places have no worries! I'm getting crafty and my fabric is jeans. You know you have a pair that need to be tossed. It doesn't fit. You aren't going to patch your kids jeans one more time... come on. Help a girl out!

I wanna be... wanna be... wanna be

Crafty... I think :)

I use to be. I've lost my mojo. But I think I've got an itch to scratch... and I'm hoping to get some creative juices going again.

I'm thinking of getting crafty by sewing... I'm debating on taking a class at JoAnn Fabrics. Unless of course... there is someone out there around here that would give me a little reminder class. I took home economics in high school... but really... I need to learn about my machine. Yep... I have a machine. I got it back in 2007 while dumpster diving. Thankfully my mom fixed that puppy up and it's in working condition.

So what do you think... what should I attempt to make?
