Cooking with Kay Kay and Tink

So the other day I was watching Tink during the day. The night before I had a craving for some homemade chocolate chip cookies. I keep wanting to try more recipes that are friendly for the hubby so I opted to try out sugar free chocolate chip cookies. They turned out pretty fab... not exactly like "real" cookies... but my craving was fixed.

I of course took pictures cuz it's just so fun to see someone who's not even three yet cooking up a storm!

Let's Dish!

So tonight Jerome and I went to Let's Dish. It's a place where you can go and prep meals that you take home and put in the freezer until you are ready to cook them. They have all the ingredients chopped and cleaned for you. It was super fast and fun! We strapped on our aprons and made four meals that we were able to split into 8 meals since there is just the two of us. So eight meals headed to the freezer.

Of course, when we got home and settled in the question came up as to what we were doing for dinner. We usually go out on Friday nights with friends but they had other plans. So... back down to the deep freezer I went to pull one of the meals from the freezer. Chicken Low Mien was our dish for the night and boy was it good. Next time we go if it's available we would add more pea pods and more sauce. But we were quite happy with the results!

It's beginning to smell and taste like Christmas...

So today I spent the day starting my holiday baking. I started off with Chex Mix, then went straight into Puppy Chow. I haven't made or eaten Puppy Chow for YEARS. It doesn't taste the same to me unfortunately... It's good... but not what I thought I remembered.

Then I started gathering ingredients for my next few recipes... I was missing something from each and every recipe. Grrr. I didn't want to leave because I was also on call for work to launch a few things as soon as testing was done. I had been writing down my grocery list as I gathered ingredients...and debated what we were doing for dinner. Never mind the fact that I still didn't take a show for the day. Well... they didn't call me until about 4:30pm. Grrrr. This really ticked me off since they were suppose to call me around 1pm.

I tossed a pizza in the oven and jumped in the shower. I ate a few pieces of pizza and was on my way to the store. Holy Hannah. Everyone was there and everyone was in the same section that I wanted to be in... the baking section, the nuts section, the candy section. Grrrr.

I finally made it home around 7:30pm. I debated on if I wanted to start and then bit the bullet and made some cornflake cookies, then Jerome's Pecan Candy, and some peanut clusters. I think that's a wrap for the day... unless I can't sleep later. My feet hurt from standing in the kitchen all day... and at the grocery store.

Time to take a breather... eat a peanut cluster and check out what's on TV.

I've been a busy girl...

Dang Dog...

Late last week Jerome came down with a cold. Now I think I'm starting to get it. I suppose it's from the two of us getting up and going outside with a puppy in this wonderful -30 with the wind chill temperatures in good ol' Minnesota. Ugh.

Needless to say, last night I made Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner and a lemon budnt cake. Once I was done cooking and eating I headed to bed to watch some TV and doze off into sleep.

I woke up around 1:30 dying of thirst. Jerome yelled from bed to see if the dog needed some water... which he scarfed down almost a whole bowl of water. Our stupid new cool mist humidifier needs to die. It doesn't push out enough water into the air... it's soooooo dry. Sucks that I tossed the box right away too and I just bought the stupid thing this year. Ughhhh.

I apparently slept so hard that I didn't notice that Jerome got up and left for work this morning. Well... hopefully I get rested up and skip the whole cold thing!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

This past weekend I got the tree put up and the holiday decorations out. There was a bit of a debate as to where to put the tree this year since we have some additional furniture in the living room - the two striped chairs and ottomans. Ends up that I put it in the same exact spot as last year in front of the side window.

The tree went up with the same decorations as years pasts... with the exception of two. The first is one that I didn't put up... Lily's paw printed ornament up. But what I did put up brought a smile to my face... what do you think?


On Saturday it snowed our first "storm" of the season. We got about 7 to 8 inches of snow plus drifts in places. And today it's snowed another 3 to 4 inches already... and is still snowing. Ugh. I would be complaining more... but.... I have to say that dumpster diving paid off this past year. Remember that snow blower that I said I picked up and hoped that it would work... well... IT DOES! Yahooo! Free snow blower!

The girls ended up not coming over this weekend... so... I didn't get as much candy making done as I had hoped. (I was thinking I could teach them some of the recipes for what my family makes this time of the year.) Needless to say, I still got some done.... chex mix, chocolate covered pretzels, peanut clusters, cornflake cookies, cashew turtles, and Jerome pecan candy. I had wanted to also do some of Ella's sugar cookies, Oreo Balls and who knows what else... but I'll have to do that some other time. Check out the new recipe blog for recipes and photos.

I did also make the lasagna that I had planned on - even without the extra mouths but I didn't get to the point of wrapping presents... which I need to do before we head to Wisconsin so I don't have to ship GWM and MJM's presents.
