It's announced...

DUMPSTER DAYS ARE COMING...

Pick up dates are as follows, so get there two days before hand to claim your treasures:
  • Saturday, April 12: Portland to East boundary.
  • Saturday, April 19: Penn to Portland.
  • Saturday, April 26: France to Penn.
  • Saturday, May 03: Normandale to France.
  • Saturday, May 17: West boundary to Normandale.
Accepted materials
The following items will be accepted at the curb:

Note: ALL fluids must be drained. Empty oil and gas from lawnmowers.

General junk: Boxed or bundled - under 100 pounds per item.No household trash, such as food.

Carpets/carpet pads: Rolled and securely tied. Under five feet long and one foot in diameter - larger rolls cause handling problems.

Appliances: Microwaves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, air conditioners, water heaters, dehumidifiers, freezers, etc. Limit TWO appliances per house.

Unusable furniture: Disassemble hide-a-way sofa beds so they cannot open during handling.

Mattresses/box springs.

Construction materials (lumber, windows and doors): Pile limited to what fits in ONE level standard-size pickup truck. Lumber stacked and no longer than five feet. Bend nails. NO railroad ties. NO contractor materials.

Scrap metal: Large scrap metal items that do not fit in the trunk of a car (swing sets, barbeque grills, bikes, etc.). All non-metal items (plastic, rubber) must be removed to be able to recycle the item. Smaller items should be taken to the Hennepin County Problem Materials Center (see below) for processing at no charge. Seperate scrap metal items from other acceptable items to save on the City's cost of disposal.

BUNDLED brush: Smaller than three (3) inches in diameter and five (5) feet in length.
