Fun Day at Sea - Monday, November 27, 2006

We got up on Monday and headed to the Lido deck for breakfast. We took our own tour of the boat after breakfast since we didn't really know where things were yet.

Around 12:30 we decide to go to the art auction that was going on in the Eagle's Lounge... I guess we were enticed by the free champagne and raffles and a free piece of artwork just for attending. We walked around and glanced at the artwork. I was really only interested in one but we went around taking some photos. One of the workers said it was fine to take pictures but to please turn the flash off... okay fine.

We took a seat and waited for the champagne to flow. I noticed on stage there were some Picasso's... I decided to go and take a photo or two... when else would I see one? There were some Salvador Dali's too... Gosh I remember studying these in my art history classes...how odd. Then there were a few Rembrandt pieces aboard the ship. The guy was talking about the pieces and how one piece was worth something like a half a million for a 4x4 piece of paper. Holy cow... needless to say I went to take a picture of it. Then it happened. I got yelled at. NO PICTURES. Too late... I already had what I wanted... here you go... print this on yellowish paper and you've got a half a million dollars in your hands :)

We stayed for the auction... it was fun to me... but I think Jerome was pretty board. After the auction there was a Gem Stone chat in the room next door where you would get a free carat Sapphire just for attending. Yeah... sure... you got a slip of paper to go into a store to pick up a sapphire. Okay... we'll do it when we get to Grand Cayman what else would we do.

After the auction and gem chat we went to our room and dropped off all the paperwork we had acquired at the talks. We ran into the casino where Jerome found a quarter on the floor near a slot. He stuck the quarter in the machine and made $30! Go JT!! GO GO GO!!!! Well that was the most he or I made there... pretty much it just took our money.

The evening consisted of the first formal night or captain's dinner. We got dressed for dinner... Jerome got a bit moody regarding his clothes... he didn't pack a suit - not my fault, I asked if he was going to pack it. (Next time we go he will be sure to pack it along for formal nite!) Anyways... we went for appetizers and drinks on the captain... we had screwdrivers, wine, some sort of brandy drink and few others to choose from and as many as we wanted... nice. They also served us meatballs, some sort of ravioli and other appetizers. Then we headed to dinner.

We looked for our new table. There is was... yep it had a window. But the matradee failed to mention that it also was on a wall in the corner. Which meant no view of anything except for the smokers on the deck. Did I mention it had a window... did I think that it would be dark at 8 pm for dinner? DUH!!!

We order our two lobsters a piece and Jerome also ordered Prime Rib for himself and chatted with the other couple from the dinner the previous day. We discussed that we got the short end of the stick regarding the table location. There were two other couples at the table... young but pretty funny.

Our service sucked to say the least. It was hot in the lower deck since the air didn't reach there for some reason. Not to mention one of the other ladies ordered a soda and when the waiter came back to see if we needed anything else she requested another coke. He pretty much yelled at her and told her that she needed to finish the one that she had before he would give her another. WHAT???? Upstairs we had our glasses always at least 3/4 full! We were not happy.

After dessert we decided we would request to go back upstairs... we chatted with the matradee and he said that the table that we previously had isn't available but that there was another opening near there. We will take it.

After we figured that out we went to the disco. It was pretty fun getting on the dance floor. There was this one couple that was especially funny to watch since they seemed like a very odd couple... I won't go into it but just picture a very aggressive young woman dancing with a very skinny old man. Okay... no more... that's it.

When we returned back to our room we had our next towel creature... Gangster Bunny.
