Long weekend in WI update...

Friday we left Minnesota for a long weekend in Wisconsin. We had a ton of things to accomplish and a class reunion to attend.

Friday- got in late as usual and pretty much went to bed.

Saturday- We got up and ran into New London.

  • We chatted with the ladies that will be creating our wedding cake. Looks like I get what I want for one thing! It will be the three tier cake and 1/2 sheet cake but we won't have real flowers instead it will be FROSTING... (I think I just made a few people quiver with the thought of all that frosting!).
  • We booked a block of rooms at the other hotel in the area. More details to come on that.
  • We also ran to C&B which is a rental place where we were thinking of getting pillars or something to spice up the ceremony with. They had tons of wedding stuff and I'd love to go back there when I'm home next to get a few ideas.
  • After being there we ran to Crystal Falls to see the set up that C&B had done for a wedding reception for Saturday night. We ran into Cindy who is the knower of all things good at Crystal Falls. We figured out how things would be set up for the ceremony and for dinner... and the reception. Jerome and I would still like round tables...but it depends on how many people we have for dinner... if we can't do all rounds we will see about doing at least some round (maybe our immediate family: parents and siblings and their families?). We also saw the card box that they let us use... so there is no need to try and make one that takes up space on the table since this one is like a mailbox covered in lace!
  • We were also suppose to meet with DJ#1 in the "early afternoon"... not sure if WI folks have a different time in their heads since Mark called us up at 5 to 5 when we were about to go out the door for my class reunion.
  • Trisha (matron of honor) and husband Andy (groomsmen) came to get us for the class reunion. Tons of fun for me... seeing how people changed either in 5 or 10 years for some, finding out who's married and has kids and who they're with now kind of thing. I had a good time... there was only a few things I would have liked to changed (give me a free drink... beer, drinky drink, soda, something!) and since I thought this was a Hawaiian theme I thought we would do something like a limbo or a contest with our Hawaiian shirts or something!
  • After the reunion we went home and fell asleep when we could have gone to see DJ#2 at two different places..but we choose to eat and fall into a nice sleep.

Sunday- We had a few meetings

  • The first was with the flower lady. Boy does she talk fast! I think we've figured out what we want and what things will cost. We told her about the Candy Bar that we plan on having and she's going to set up our table and let us borrow her glassware for free... which is one less thing for me to think about!
  • Jerome and I ran into Appleton for our famous "bar wings" and some quick running around where we got information on possible rehearsal food.
  • We had a meeting with DJ#1 at the house. He seems nice. Unfortunately he doesn't have new music since last October since he has retired. We need to contact him about a few things...but he will probably get the gig.
  • We then went to Green Bay to see DJ #2 at a wedding that was being held in a park pavilion. He had no bells or whistles...but a great voice. We will contact them to see what package was purchased for this event and find out if there are bells and whistles... but with them being more expensive... we may stick with DJ#1.
  • On the way home there was a quick jump over to Oneida where I didn't win a darn thing but I think Jerome came home with $10 he didn't have before we walked through the doors.
  • Mckenna came over with her flower girl dress on but wouldn't let me take her picture...or really even see her stand up straight in the dress... or attempt to toss flower petals all over Grandma's house.

Monday- we ran over to Montalbano's to meet up with them for a bit since we only really saw them at the reunion... not a normal setting needless to say and then headed for home.

Mom also found her wedding veil... true a bit grey/yellow but almost exactly what I want. We would trim it to be shorter... and remove the fabric rose and put in a rhinestone cover over the comb if we can get it cleaned. That's the IF. We will see!

Trisha also already has her dress in hand... that was quick!

WHEW! What a weekend.
