First Falafel King. This is located near the Cub Foods in a strip mall. Yup... we don't usually frequent restaurants that are within a strip mall... it's not our thing. But... we did because we were referred to this by my friend Tiff. First off... strip mall, second off... Cub Foods parking lot is shared with this places parking. Those are the negatives... and they stop there. Inside the door of this restaurant we were greeted my a friendly hello of the boy working the take out or deli section. There was a classy looking bar and then little bristo like tables in another section with a huge water fall wall. It was classy... I wondered how much this dinner was about to cost.

I'm happy to say with the free appetizers that this place provided along with our meals we were well under our usual amount. Note to self: I should not eat the salsa as it has cucumbers in it unless of course I would like itchy cheeks. Also check the back of the grocery store receipt. It usually has a coupon on it.

I would go back again. (And have since I originally wrote this post, that time was with my co-workers for their lunch buffet. Equally good, but next time I think I know what I like and will get the Chicken again!)

The second place is the Red Pepper. Our new favorite Asian place. I love love love the Sweet and Sour chicken. Jerome loves the Szechuan Chicken and Veggie Fried Rice. This is definitely better as take out verses dine in and it's best eaten that day and not reheated.

Broadway Pizza - Yum

If you live in the Twin Cities...run... don't walk to Broadway pizza and order yourself a Classic Deluxe Pizza and Garlic Cheese Bread with the meaty dipping sauce. YUMMMMMMM-O!



This is the "old school" kind of pizza place... they even serve your pizza on old trays. It's sooo good. Next time you are in town visiting this is a spot I would take you to it's that good!

Katt and friends...

So Jerome and I were suppose to meet up with Lisa and Rod to go to dinner. We decided on going to Rock Bottom Brewery. I called and made reservations for four at 5:45pm. We were running late so I called them and told them to please hold our table... which they did.

Ends up that Lisa and Rod were running late too... so late that they didn't make it to dinner. We had the Buffalo wings - yum. Jerome had the Southwestern Shrimp and Chicken Fettuccine - dang good. This was actually what I was going to get, but then he said he wanted it... I let him have it! Instead, I had the Brewer's Club - turkey, ham, bacon with melted cheddar and Monterrey jack, tomato and lettuce on ciabatta bread. Delish too!

Rod and Lisa arrived as we were paying the bill... perfect timing. We headed to our seats in the State Theatre. We were in row Q... needless to say any seat in the State Theatre would be good... we were just in front of the balcony though. Lisa and I both made a remark that we felt like we were on a cruise ship at the nightly entertainment.

The show started late - a half hour. First was a male rapper who calls himself Klutch. He pretty much sucked since we were there for comedy... not a rap show.

Then there was another rapper. This one was female and calls herself Xplicit Lyric. She shouted out here myspace page and of course I caught it....

Then there were two female comedians. The first... I can't remember her name was HELL-ARI-OUS... so much so that Jerome had tears coming down! She had great "jokes". The other... was good... but she herself was funny... not really her jokes. Here's a YouTube video that I found of her and another. Here's one that I took with my camera phone.



There was a guy who was the introducer of all of these people and Katt Williams. He was alright too. Then... the big gun came out. He was pretty good. I was glad to see that he had a new "skit" instead of the ones that I've seen on DVD. Unfortunately he spent a ton of time on the election... here's a YouTube video of him doing a similar skit.

We left after the show for home... let the pup out and went to bed. The next day, Friday, we were going to be doing some running around and waiting for the Monty Crew to arrive.

Restaurant Review - Cafe BonXai

This weekend Jerome and I decided we wanted to go out to dinner on Saturday. We knew we didn't want a burger or chicken... okay... hummm where should we go. We figured we would go to Fridays. Ugh... same ol same ol. Then the brilliance came to me. We headed to St. Paul to go to The Best Steak House on University.

When we got there we noticed that it was dark - but with hanging blue lights in the windows. Interesting... since this was a place that had booths from 1920 with original coffee stains on them. Yes, The Best Steak House is a dump... but it has some great food! We drove passed it and went around the block so we could park in the parking lot behind the restaurant.

When we drove in I noticed that sign said "Cafe BonXai". WTF? It's gone Asian? We went in to see what the menu way anyways after all, we trekked all the way from home to get here. Inside we noticed the same grill kitchen that The Best Steak House had. But turning the corner was something totally new. Burnt orange walls, blue hanging lights that were above new black leather or pleather booths and tables. Candle light with flower arrangements on each table. Swanky!

We were seated by a man and a waitress ran right over with water. Nice we don't even have to ask for water! We looked over the menu. I noticed a lot of things that sounded good, but was in the mood for steak... since I thought we were going to The Best Steak House! I settled on a 10oz Steak, baked potato and veggies. Jerome had the same conclusion but added a side salad to his order.

We watched as tables were being served their food... each dish had a beautiful touch of culinary skills to it. Jerome's salad came out - of course I was thinking Midwest Side Salad with iceberg lettuce and a few carrots. Nope. Out came with - non technical term coming up - dandelion lettuce and spinach, carrots, cucumbers in wacky shapes and I think sprouts. It looked divine.

Then came our steaks. Yum-o. For $11 each we will defiantly be going back there. Their dessert menu also looked delicious. Tiramisu was on there and a few others. They also have a liquor license so if you wanted wine with your meal you were set as well.

We will be going back to Cafe BonXai... it may become a place we take people from out of town if they want to travel to St. Paul.
