Who's got irritated eyes? I do I do! Ugh.

Seriously though... my right eye is totally jacked. Since September 22nd my eye has been twitching on and off. You know... the inner corner of my eye just going crazy having it's own little party... It's raising the roof. ANNOYING!

Now yesterday, on the same freakin' eye, I felt like my eyelashes hurt. WTF? If I even touched them it hurt. I pulled a few which I thought would release some of the pain... like an ingrown hair or something... no luck... still hurts.

So... it's off with the contacts and switching of the mascara to see if either of those things will help. I did take my contacts out when this twitching thing began but that didn't seem to help anything. In fact... it feels more annoying because I feel like the twitching causes the entire glasses frame to move.... but that's just in my head!

So I was having a conversation with Melba the other night... we were talking about how she is going to make her daughter a costume for Halloween. I asked how she was going to make a certain part of it and she said with fabric. I was thinking it needed to be poofy or something... and BAM it came to me... colored cotton balls!

Melba had no idea what I was talking about. Do you remember colored cotton balls? Colored Kleenex or tissue? What about colored toilet paper?

Where the heck has the color gone? It's all only white now!!! Seriously... think about it. Apparently the dye that was used to color the above items was sensitive to some users and thus it's no longer being used. Crazy huh!

Brrrr... It's a little cold in the house... 62 right now. I'm thinking it's time to toss the electric blanket on the bed. I'd like to turn the the heat on right about now... but it's still not time for that yet. Sweatshirts and socks are on and putting my really cold feet on my hubby at night :)

Now mind you... I am NOT complaining that the weather is getting cold. I'd love to have this weather vs. the 90s that we've had a few weeks ago. I love love love fall and winter. I am a sweatshirt girl. I like layers. I love blankets. I just need to get them out so I can use them!

Game Nights

I'm happy to report that I have found a game that my hubby and myself can play and not get mad at each other. We're both pretty competitive when it comes to games so when one looses time and time again one may just get a bit upset.

Thankfully we have also found a couple that also enjoys this game as well and it's Uno Attack on everyone! I'm really enjoying having Nate and Emi come over for a night of adult conversation, drinks and cards. It's only been twice but I honestly hope it continues. We also attend most of our free movie screenings with them.

Do you know how hard it is to find friends when you are an adult? Do you know how hard it is to find a couple who are seriously both cool enough that you feel like you have known them forever!?! Seriously... it's not easy. Especially when you're at home without an outside job to meet people at... let's just say I'm grateful for these two. I'm glad we have a ton in common that we aren't just stuck playing cards... not that that would be all that bad now would it! Oh and Nate... watch out for that BEEF FLAP!

Do you have any games that you like to play? I'm always looking for new games since I was brought up getting a new board game each Christmas and want to continue that tradition in my own family.

I took on the task of watching Tic Tac for a few days. Boy oh boy... I forget how much work it is... especially since we are afraid of monsters and sleeping by ourselves and say that we don't like mac and cheese, chicken, pizza, or anything else that we know she usually eats. Ugh.

I made Monster Spray the very first day. Thankfully I remembered where to find the recipe for it. Whew!

We made a count down so Tic Tac would know when she would be going home. Too bad she didn't really get it and kept asking if the weekend was over and if she was going home each and every day... multiple times a day...

There was lots of coloring...

There was even painting of little fingers and toes in Shrek colored paint...

And I got my hair "did" by Tic Tac too...

I'm sure I'll be worn out to the fullest once she's gone!

Movie Review: Contagion

So tonight we saw the movie Contagion. It comes out in early September... just in time to line up with the timeline of the movie which starts around Thanksgiving.

If you saw Outbreak back in the 90's it has the same feel... but seems oh so much more real-er. Yeah... especially since part of it is based in Minnesota... not just anywhere in Minnesota but they actually say "Lake and Lyndale" when asked where the bus is that a person is on. Awesome... Ugh.

When things are so close to reality I kinda freak out. I instantly started thinking that I need to grow my can goods stockpile and invest in more hand sanitizer. I got the heebie jeebies and the itchy scratchies. It was bad. OCD to the fullest!

So, if you want a movie to make you think... see it.
If you are a germaphobe... make sure you wait till the movie can be downloaded in the comfort of your own home where you have a huge stock pile of hand sanitizer, food and have all your loved ones near you.

We still think it's super bright but it's green... and it's not easy being green :) I love it but it doesn't really match the "calmness" of the living room. Does that matter? Is it okay to have different emotions in rooms that are connected by a doorway? What do you think? I'm still trying to figure out what to do as far as window treatments. I'll be putting up the blue curtains that we had up for the time being just so that there is some privacy... even if it isn't "pretty".

Today I spackled, primed, and even managed to get the first coat on all the trim and the bead board. Yes, I painted the bead board. Originally I wasn't going to... but then, after some late night searching online it looks better to me!

Tomorrow... I'm thinking a 2nd layer on the trim and bead board and crossing my fingers on getting into the COLOR :)

Ugh. Thankfully this is the last room that has this stupid wallpaper in it from the previous owners of the house. Well there is some in the basement but we like it :)

What this really means is that this is the 2nd to last room that hasn't had "our touch" put on it yet. When we moved in just over 5 years ago we worked immediately on our living room since that was the world's biggest eye sore! Then we worked on the master bedroom, the upstairs bathroom, the down stairs bathroom and the guest bedroom (hmmm guess I didn't blog that!?!?!). This left only our kitchen and the third bedroom.

I was able to get a bunch of free samples of paint from Glidden that added up to be a gallon of paint. Thankfully a few of my friends live in apartments and can't or won't paint so I was able to use their addresses to send my sample to them.

I'll post more... but I hate wallpaper as of now.

MOVIE: Final Destination 5

So last night we went to see Final Destination 5. Now mind you, we rarely go to "scary" or "horror" or "slasher" movies. I was seriously surprised that we went.

That being said... I think for Minnesota it may have been a wee bit to soon for a horror movie to be making "fun" of a bridge collapse. It just kinda irked me and I wondered if other people in the theatre were thinking the same thing?

But if you are up for gore, slicing and dicing, and freak accidents this is a movie for you!

For a cut... My hair hasn't been this long since I was just out of college... yeah... 10+ years ago. Whew.

I haven't truly loved the whole long hair thing. I feel like all I do is throw it in a pony tail or wrap it in a bun. I get it caught in car doors... yeah... seriously it sucks.

I want something new... something fun.

Whoa... I guess I don't look at the back of my hair that often... ICK! I can tell the new growth from where I had some highlights that pretty much wrecked my hair.

Now mind you... these pictures were taken around midnight, after a good long walk where I worked up a sweat. I also have zero product in my air dried hair.

What do you think I should do with my hair? How short do I go? Bangs? Layers? Shave it all off? :)

Annual Garage Sale

So ummm yeah. Screw you Mother Nature.

Now that that's out of the way... we hosted our annual garage sale... the first day was a Thursday. It rained, drizzled, and was just plain gloomy. And cold. Very very cold. It sucked. Thursdays are usually our biggest days. This was not the case on this Thursday by any means.

Then we were open Friday. Nice a warm but not that many people wanted to buy stuff. Saturday... ugh... is always slow. But I have it set as 1/2 price day... so people come back... but no one wanted anything and we closed probably by 2pm.

It was our WORST garage sale ever. Seriously. We've made "good" money at these sales. This year... not so much. So... with taht being said, I decided to give it another go the following Thursday. I was doing it for one day only since it was the Thursday before the Fourth of July, which would be on Monday. I knew people would be heading out of town for the long holiday weekend but I didn't think it would be already on Thursday.

Well that wasn't the only reason why there was no business. There was a huge heat advisory. It at one point when I noticed 103 degrees. UGH... HOT! Seriously suckage. At one point while picking up the signs I became woozy from getting in and out of the truck to grab the signs. It was bad.

So... there is a garage full of stuff and I wonder if I should attempt to hold it again or give up for this year.

Life...

Life has gotten in the way of blogging... and I don't think that's a bad thing. Here's what's been going on...

Vehicle issues... and lots of them. Now mind you, my hubby is pretty handy when it comes to car stuff. But darn it, does it always have to be all at the same time?

My car had an issue with a sensor, which he just replaced last year, so he knew how to do it. I just had to buy the sensor. But there my car sat for a week or two until I remembered to buy the part while I was in the area of the part shop.

Then there is our bucket car. It's an old car but the hubs LOVES it. I keep thinking we should get rid of it. Well... the hubs keeps thinking that he needs to put his rims on it. And then switch to other tires. And then OTHER tires. Oh boy. It's never ending.

THEN, we have our pick up truck. It took a crapper on the side of the highway and over heated. Awesome. No good.

And last, but not least... our SUV. Yeah... that just started acting up today while I was driving it. Not good since that's what we were going to take out of town in a few weeks.

Speaking of going out of town... my family is hosting a family reunion in my home town. I've been helping with planning, creating signage, goodie bags and finding games that we can play during the day. Should be a ton of fun!

What else... hmmmmm.

I had my very first under anesthesia surgery. I'm okay. I'm not going to get into it on here but hopefully this will answer some questions to what's been going on with my body! The surgery was quick and I managed to only be on pain meds for three days. And that third day I didn't even take all the doses that I was suppose to. So it went well I guess.

I'm still couponing. I'm trying a new way though where I don't use a binder, just a file case. We'll see how it goes.

Well I'm not sure what to say about this season. It must be the economy... people just aren't throwing everything out like they use to. The weather has been a factor too... between snow and rain there are far and few days that are actually nice to pull everything from all over your house to the curb.

I did of course find a few things... take a peek... could be keeping could be selling... not sure :)

A bike for me... it's about $250 bike!

Yup... that's a 2Step jungle gym on top of the truck. I actually got two different ones this year.

TV armoire with drawers and shelves. Yes, the blue tape came off.

Entertainment center with glass cabinet on the left.

A petal go cart and a small boys bike.

Container/Drawers for the garage.

This will be a nightstand for our master bedroom.

If you see me around town I'll probably be toting this here bag around with me. Yup... you got it... my coupon bag. Isn't she a beaut?!?! It's from Land's End and is the medium sized long handled tote. I absolutely love it!

It's the perfect size for placing my ever expanding and no longer zipping Penny in along with a reusable bag or two and my wallet. The extra long strap/handle makes it easy to swing onto my shoulder while carrying the rest of my purchases out to the car.

And the better thing was the price. FREE! Well... sort of. Back in December I won a gift card for Lands End at a Twitter party. I could have purchased it then... but instead opted for items in the Lands End Outlet near me. I had a few bucks leftover, and well it went towards this. A few extra bucks and poof... it's all mine!

Pork Chop just cracks me up some times. One day I was sitting at my laptop checking my email when I looked up to see Pork Chop... checking his email on Jerome's laptop. I had to laugh. And I quickly grabbed the camera and got this shot. True, he was only laying on the couch but it was just the perfect angle.

I tried snapping another picture of him the other day when he was sitting in one of the chairs. He was sitting straight up like a human... like on his butt. Just looking at me. I laughed again. Grabbed the camera... but it was too late he turned away.

Resolutions Part Duce

So... it's almost March. Yep... 1/4 of 2011 is already down the crapper. LOL.

How are you doing on your resolutions?

Mine... well let me tell you. I am doing AWESOME!

1st: Make couponing a priority.

Umm yep. I'm sure you've noticed. And if not check out www.kimsdealio.blogspot.com!

2nd: Brush my teeth twice a day.

So fresh and so clean so far. And it feels nasty if I don't... so I think I broke my bad habit!

3rd: Blog more often.

Still trying to get more posts... but it's getting there.

4th: Get organized.

Well this is really actually happening. I've organized the baby room closet, the linen/bathroom closet, the stockpile closet, I'm currently switching the front door entry closet back into a coat closet and making the back door closet back into a broom closet, and I've rearranged the laundry room. There is still plenty more to be done.

5th: Remove email address from news letters that I don't read.

Well this one kinda is getting there. I actually added a new address for all my couponing/deals and they're slowly getting pushed over to there.

Let's not forget the things I want to accomplish by 2012

Paint the kitchen.
Create a stockpile space and fill it with great finds. (CHECK!)
Go through my piles of magazines and take the information I want and dispose of the magazines.
Install pull out shelving in my kitchen.
Finish my project (the hutch).
Find a way to configure the laundry room so that it works better. (CHECK!)

Two nights this week we had a free dinner. Not just one of us... both of us. I got coupons from Crowdcut for free Hoagies at Davanni's. So delicious. I've never had one from there... we usually get a pizza or the garlic cheese bread from there. These were... oh my... my mouth is watering! So, for two nights this week we had free hoagies.

Then tonight we had Chipotle... and yes, I had a coupon for that too... not as good as a deal but it was BOGO! I love free food!

FedEx stopped by today and gave me a box... and in that box was this box.

These are my new Nike shoes that I got for FREE from Dr. Oz. I was able to pick my own shoes out of a few styles/colors. I didn't realize online that the yellow on these is as bright as a yellow highlighter!

You read that right... $85 for retail price. But for me... FREE!

I thought it was about time to introduce my readers to my friend Penny. She recently came to live in our house and I think she's here for the long haul :) Let's see what she's all about...

Pockets! I use each and every one. One for coupons I'm going to use, one for coupons that I have the product in my cart and then the big pocket to hold additional plastic sheets.

I have one one pocket that I keep any mail in rebates in.

One section devoted just to coupons for specific stores.


I've got a ton of sections. They are seriously great section dividers.

I found this great PDF that can be printed out of a table of contents and dividers from the Krazy Coupon Lady. It's really working for me! Be sure to check out her beginners section!

So the other day I took my trusty coupon binder with me while I went to pick up a few deals. Here's what I found waiting for me!

Resolutions?

So did you make any New Year's resolutions?

I did.

And... I'm proud to say I'm still going strong with them. Sure... it's only two weeks in... but it's ALREADY two weeks in!

1st: Make couponing a priority.

I'm pretty sure you've noticed. I've clipped and printed more coupons this month than I think I did all last year. I've also used more coupons this month than I did all last year. I've tried a new way of couponing with my binder and it's working great.

2nd: Brush my teeth twice a day.

Yeah. Sad, I know. But... I got into a very bad habit when I went to college. I would brush my teeth in the morning and usually before I went out for drinks. Keyword... usually. Now, with that being said, since being out of school I was only brushing 100% in the morning. Each and every morning and then once in awhile at night before going out. Yeah... Rut. Well... I've started back to "where it all began". Morning and bedtime. And it feels good. And being that #1 resolution is helping with toothpaste costs I can't complain about it!

3rd: Blog more often.

I'm pretty sure you may have noticed an up swing in blog posts from me. I think my mojo is back :)

4th: Get organized.

I'm an organized person. Anyone who use to work with me could tell you about my desk. But when it comes to my house... where there is more than just me putting things away (or moving things around I should say) it's pretty unorganized. So... I've decided to take back the house. Get this place back into tip top shape.

5th: Remove email address from news letters that I don't read.

Pretty self explanatory, but still needs some working on. I get a TON of emails each and every day. in MULTIPLE accounts. I want to get down to maybe just two accounts by 2012. One that is my main account, and another that is for specific things. Seriously... a TON of emails. Do I read all of them.... heck no. I've signed up to win a prize or a coupon or for a news feed that I thought interested me that no longer does. It's time to remove those from my life. They're just taking up time and energy.

I think that's it. There are a few things I'd like to accomplish before the calendar turns to 2012... let's see if I can get them done.

Paint the kitchen.
Create a stockpile space and fill it with great finds.
Go through my piles of magazines and take the information I want and dispose of the magazines.
Install pull out shelving in my kitchen.
Finish my project (the hutch).
Find a way to configure the laundry room so that it works better.

Organizing Bug - After

Well... I ended up touching each and every item in this room. And then went for the complete overhaul and rearranged the room while I was at it!

I now have a diaper station.

I went thru all the toys, put likes with likes and made it nice again!

Put the stuffed animals in the kid rocking chair that we have and made the bed. Hummm I really should paint this room!

I organized the closet... removed some stuff, found new homes for some stuff, added more and rearranged. Again... likes with likes.

I even had room to put some of the big toys that usually just sit on the floor in the room in the closet on a shelf! Yes, that is a tote full of bags. I think I'll be going thru that once I work on my clothes closet.

This was empty at one point... which is what made me move it to a new location! Then I added just a FEW things. I really want to get rid of this piece for a chest of drawers.

This is all GARBAGE!

This is a pile of Pampered Chef stuff from when I was a consultant. I'm asking other consultants if they want it and if not... either for sale or for Goodwill!

These two pieces need to be put into storage. Only toddlers in our house now!

Ahhhhh... it feels so much better! Hopefully I can keep it from becoming the dumping grounds again!

Little Boys Don't Count

So I've decided that the company Ultra Pro doesn't think little boys can count. I guess it could be grown men who live in their mother's basements. Yeah... they can't count either. I'll come back to this...

Being that I'm diving into couponing 100% now I've decided to change up my coupon binder. It just wasn't working for me to the fullest. I've decide to revamp it. And thankfully I found one online that I think will work for me now... but I know it wouldn't have worked for me when I started.

So.... off to Target I went.

I already had the perfect binder that I bought during school supply time. And I thought I had enough page protectors... time will tell on that... I think I've got a few more somewhere in this house that I can use. But what I needed yet was those 9 pocket baseball card pages. (See... I'm getting back to the little boys who can't count!)

It was suggested that I would probably want about 60 pages. Great. Found them in the front of the store by a massive row of trading cards after talking to a guy who I'm sure lives in his mom's basement and works at Target. There they were just waiting for me to snatch them up. The Ultra Pro 9-Pocket Pages #83275. 30 pages to a pack. I quickly grabbed two packs and was on my way.

I got home... went straight to my computer and started printing the 40 title pages for each section of my new coupon binder. Then I stuffed 30 or so of the title pages into the page protectors that I had. Without stopping to see if I had more page protectors I decided to just add a sheet of the 9 pockets between each title page that I had already.

What do you know... only 25 sheets. UGH. That means I'll be short. I counted. And counted them again for good measure. I searched around me to make sure they didn't slip of the table that I was working on. Nothing. There were suppose to be 30 sheets in each pack.

Since I had a second pack I ripped it open to see if it had 30. Not so much. So apparently little boys only care to organize... not count.

I'll have to go and buy a 3rd pack... which really ticks me off since now I'll have to wait to totally organize my binder since I'm short 10 pages. And I'll have to buy another pack that says it has 30 pages in it but will only have 25. And, since it's Target I'll spend more money cuz who can just go into Target and get what they need and walk out?

Tweaker

I'm a tweaker. LOL.

I've had this blog since 2005 and I've been constantly tweaking it. I never seem to find the right layout. I never seem to find the right header. I never seem to find just the right color combo. Or... I think I do... love it to the fullest. And then time passes by and it must be tweaked again. It's not the color I'm feeling right now... or the tone I want to portray.

Well it's 2011. This blog is just over 5 years old. At this moment it feels right. But I can't seem to see my followers here. Speak up... I miss you. Talk to me. Comment in the comments section that's at the bottom of each and every post once in a blue moon for me, k?!?

Well I joined Twitter a while back when NKOTB was the topic of my life in 2008... trying to figure out if it was really them tweeting or not. Thus... my twitter name... 2008blockhead. Yeah... I know.

Anyways... recently the hubby's cousin's wife and I have been having a total blast on Twitter joining Twitter parties. Yes... Twitter parties. It's fun and you can win prizes. It takes about an hour for a party and all you do is follow the "host" of the party and tweet back to them using a special hashtag that is specific for the party.

And just like that a month has almost past by since I've blogged last. I don't know where the days go. Seriously.

I'm getting ready for the holidays coming up. Finding all the best deals for all those Christmas presents that I'm purchasing on an unemployment income. Yep... I'm stretching it the best I can but it's getting to the point where it's not covering cost that are in our house. Now mind you... I've found great deals. Really really great deals. But I really hope Santa leaves me a big stash of money in my stocking this year.

I can't get into all the really great deals since some of my readers may be getting them... or their children may be getting them. I had a ton of luck on Black Friday as always finding many items for the kiddos on my list.

Here's where I ended up. I started my day at Walgreen's. At Walgreen's and CVS on Thanksgiving Day they have a BUNCH of stuff for free (after their cash coupon that spits out). I got everything that was on my list from there and headed home to work on my Thanksgiving lunch sides.

After we ate our turkey and took our long food coma nap I started my night at 10pm at Walmart. Yes... 10pm on Thanksgiving Day night. Walmart had two sales. One at midnight and the other at 5am. I started grabbing stuff and putting it into my cart at 10:05pm. The store was not ready for people to be scoping out the midnight sale items yet. By 11:05 I had all my items in my cart that I wanted for the midnight sale. By 11:40 I was the first person in line to check out once midnight struck. Score!

Then I headed home to help Jerome with a few online orders that he wanted to place. We ended up running to an electronics store and staying there for a long time. Thankfully we drove separately so I wasn't stuck there. Instead I scoped out the area Targets. Yeah... the good thing about being in the Cities is that we have multiples of stores in a very close proximity. I swung by three and ended up staying at the last one that I swung past. Target was giving customers in line coffee, snack bars, coupons and maps to the store. This was by far the best customer service! Yet again, I scored everything on my list.

I then headed back to Walmart for the 5am sale. You guessed it... scored everything again.

Then it was time for the trouble location. Menard's. There was no way I was going to get into line there. I've stood in that line. It's not worth it. People cut. People get mad. People fight. I was one of those people who cut... who made people mad. But, I scored everything and was out the door lickity split.

I jumped over to Sears for an item and then crashed for all of 30 minuets before I had to watch my Hubby's grandson. Whew. Thankfully that little boy was in need of a very long nap as was I :)

Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

So today I tried winning tickets for far too long so that I and a few friends could go to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 for free. Yes, for free. Who doesn't love freebies?

Anyways... I finally won a gang of tickets and headed to MOA to jump in line. I knew this would be a crowded movie since it has such a following. Boy was I right. Usually we are within the first 10 people... if not within the first five... not today. I'd say there was a good 20-30 people in front of me. Whew.

Well... I'm not really a Harry Potter fan. Magic is not my thing. Mystical... same. I don't "get it". I do know that I enjoyed the movie and could for the most part watch it and not remember anything from the previous movies (even though I saw a few of those too!).

I guess I would pay to see this... even though I'm not a super Potter fan. It's still a neat movie.

Today starts it... my 33rd year.

I'm going to start something new today and I'm calling it Year 33. Here goes... I'm going to take a photo each and every day of myself, something I'm doing, or something I love. I can't promise I will post it each and every day... but there will be a photo taken each day and eventually blogged!

So here goes...

This shot I took at my birthday dinner. We went to one of my favorite places that I don't get to enough called The Old Spaghetti Factory. Yes, it's a bathroom shot... lol. I rocked out in my green coat and green sweater and even had Spinach Tortellini that was... you guessed it... GREEN :) I shared my dinner celebration with my hubby, Lisa and Rod and Nate.

Are you ready to receive all of your friends cute holiday cards? I love the Christmas photo cards the best. They always end up on my fridge for the entire year until a new one comes to replace it. I can't wait to get my new wall calendars. I've gotta stay organized and on top of things don't-cha-know!

I gotta say I'm not a big holiday card writer/sender. I always love to receive them though. I guess who doesn't love getting real mail that isn't a bill!

So I wanted to get crafty... remember...?

Well now I'm on craft over load! I made the wreath, and now have three other projects that I'm switching between! Crazy right!

Well... one I work on during the day... sanding down an old cabinet/hutch that Jerome had. I'm going to make it into something we can use in our basement hopefully. So far, so good. Mind you, this piece has been in our garage here since we moved here and was up for sale in one if not two of our garage sales... guess it was meant to stay with us!

A second project is really on the back burner... I started it and am to the point where I think I could start putting it together... but I'm hoping for some advice and maybe guidance from a certain someone who I haven't told yet :)

The third project I started a LONG time ago... back when I worked in corporate land. I'm back at it after putting my fingers on some knitting needles this past weekend while hanging out with Lisa and her mom at a craft sale. Yup... I still got it :)

Frugal Crafting

So I saw this cute idea on a site and thought... hey... I can do that! And I could! And all for under $4... now that's what I call frugal.

You can get your supplies at the Dollar Tree for the most part. The foam ring, the ribbon and even the mini glue gun glue (not the actual gun... at least not at my Dollar Tree). The beige coffee filters were bought at Cub Foods since my Dollar Tree only carried white coffee filters... but I'm thinking that I may make a white one too now!

I needed something to set my glue gun on and went searching for a paper plate when gasp... I saw on the counter a lid to a soup can, thanks hubby. I ran it under the faucet and was good to go!

So start with a coffee filter.

Fold the filter in half.

Then fold it in half again.

Run a dab of hot glue on the ring.

Place the tip of the coffee filter on the ring in the glue. Try not to burn yourself or you'll end up with a nice little blister... not that I know anything about that though.

When I was adding mine I did four coffee filters left to right on the ring and then two filters up and down, repeat.

I added a little loop on the back for hanging.

Here's the completed wreath. I thought it needed a wee bit more... thus the off center ribbon was made.

I ended up needing a long piece of ribbon to hang it over the mirror (which is how I originally saw this craft on a site). Not sure if I like it there... but I do know that I like the wreath itself!

So cute, so crafty, so frugal.

Thankful

I'm thankful to have such a great hubby. He knows his way around a car... and I'm not talking about just the back seat :)

Recently my car has been nothing but trouble.

When we tried going out of town a few weekends ago my car died on the side of the highway just as we crossed the boarder to Wisconsin. The hubs was smart to drive it back over the boarder once we were able to get it cooled down.

We ended up calling my insurance company and having it towed to our house. We got a ride with a friend back to our house, jumped in the truck and headed back to our weekend out of the cities. When we returned home to see my car in the driveway we were able to push it into the garage.

He fixed it pretty quick.

Then last week we went to the movies. I had been driving in my car all day. No problems. So... off we went to the other side of the cities for a screening. As soon as we pulled into the drive way after the show the car started to smoke! Ugh... not again.

Well... he fixed it again this weekend. Thank you hun for being my car mechanic! I'm glad we don't have to spend money taking it to the shop and paying their outrageous labor fees.

Let's hope we're good now and don't have any more issues with the car!

I'm looking for any size (men, woman, teen, kids), any wash (light, dark, tinted), and it they have holes or stains in places have no worries! I'm getting crafty and my fabric is jeans. You know you have a pair that need to be tossed. It doesn't fit. You aren't going to patch your kids jeans one more time... come on. Help a girl out!

I use to be. I've lost my mojo. But I think I've got an itch to scratch... and I'm hoping to get some creative juices going again.

I'm thinking of getting crafty by sewing... I'm debating on taking a class at JoAnn Fabrics. Unless of course... there is someone out there around here that would give me a little reminder class. I took home economics in high school... but really... I need to learn about my machine. Yep... I have a machine. I got it back in 2007 while dumpster diving. Thankfully my mom fixed that puppy up and it's in working condition.

So what do you think... what should I attempt to make?

I still get a lump in my throat when someone mentions 9/11 to me. I still get sick to my stomach thinking of those who jumped out of buildings thinking that was better than staying in those buildings. I still have a ache in my heart for my country 9 years later.

I'm not one to be all patriotic. You don't see me at a Fourth of July parade or wearing those little poppy flowers. But I remember that day like it was this very morning. I remember how I felt.

I remember hunting down an American flag and only being able to find one that I could put on the window of my car and let it fly while I drove around. I remember watching the news coverage from the moment I got home from work after a very eerie drive home. I remember having to turn it off because it made me sick.

I remember talking to friends of mine who lived in the cities with me since I was living by myself. I remember wanting to be held and told everything would be okay and that this was just a very very bad dream. I remember hearing the jets pass over downtown St. Paul as I watched from my window... peaking out my window not sure if I really wanted to see what could have happened had it not been just "us" keeping watch of our cities.

I still have the newspapers from that tragic day. I even have a VHS tape of stuff I recorded, even of me flipping through the channels only to find everyone was covering it on each and every channel. I still wonder what happened. How could this have happened?

My stomach hurts as I type. There is a lump in my throat. And my heart still aches.

Movie Review: The Social Network

So most of you out there know that I use to work at this company where I worked on their web team. I wasn't much of a web geek as half the people on the team... I tried to keep them in the "normal" folks range. I was the one that spoke in human English when they talked in code. I can't say I didn't pick up a few things... actually a ton of things. A little coding, a little html, and some jargon. Yep... I did.

So when we got passes for The Social Network I wasn't interested. I thought it was going to be a geek haven. I had no interest. Now mind you... I LOVE FACEBOOK. I'm extremely addicted to it. I have to check it... daily... many times... perhaps even be online on Facebook all day long. WHAT?!?!?! :)

Well... the hubby wanted to go to the show. I was feeling like I'd been cooped up in the house long enough that I wanted to get out of it. So we went.

The first few minuets of the flick they're talking a ton of jargon, code, geek speak. And I understood 99.5% of it. It scared me. Way too much. I wondered if my husband understood. But, that didn't stop us from watching. I noticed a lot of the audience was the "geeks" or those who work in the social media world in their companies. I fell into this group too... laughing at some of the same things... but my hubs... not so much.

We both thought it was a great flick and talked about it long after it was over. It was neat to see what "The Facebook" started out as and made us even more interested on what it will become.

If I were someone working in social media I would make my company pay for my ticket to see this. If I were an average Facebook user who wants a little history lesson go ahead and see it. I still find it kinda strange that they made a movie based on someone who is still very alive and only 26!

MOVIE: Expecting Mary

Well, I haven't had a chance to actually see this particular movie but let me tell you... if it's playing in my area I'm going. Why... well first off a star studded cast: Gene Simmons, Cybill Shepherd, Della Reese, Cloris Leachman, and... last but not least a great supporting cast member Larry Bates! Who is Larry Bates you ask? Well... he happens to be my hubby's 1st cousin! Way to go Larry!

They have a great website and you can even check them out of good old facebook!

I will hopefully have some giveaways for this movie as well! I'll let you know when I know for sure!

So... ummm yeah. I've been sicker than sick for one full week. Awesome.

But, today I finally found some energy. I took the best warm shower of my life, put on some comfy sweats and a long sleeved tee shirt. Yep, you heard that right LONG SLEEVED :) It's being to feel like fall here and I love it.

I've opened the windows to let the crisp cool breeze carry out all these sick germs.

Movie Review: Secretariat

Time for another movie review. This time it's for the Secretariat which comes out October 8th.

Now when I first heard about this film I thought hummm... a movie about a horse race.... BORING!!! But, the hubs dragged me to the show and boy was I wrong!

This movie had a great cast, including Diane Lane, John Malkovich, and Margo Martindale. There was just something about this film that made me love it. I'm not a horse chick by any means, even though I grew up in the land of the cows...

There was a great storyline... that didn't spawn off to some crazy side story. It kept it about what it should be... Big Red. And let's not forget it's a true story and a Disney flick :)

This movie had me from the start, to the middle, to the very end. The end so much that I watched the credits. Yes... the credits.

Go see this. Pay money. Rent it when it comes out. Buy the DVD or blue ray or whatever your vice is. This will win awards!

Cooking with Kay Kay and Tink

So the other day I was watching Tink during the day. The night before I had a craving for some homemade chocolate chip cookies. I keep wanting to try more recipes that are friendly for the hubby so I opted to try out sugar free chocolate chip cookies. They turned out pretty fab... not exactly like "real" cookies... but my craving was fixed.

I of course took pictures cuz it's just so fun to see someone who's not even three yet cooking up a storm!

Movie Review: Flipped

So tonight I went to see Flipped.

It's your normal "Girl meets boy. Girl falls for boy. Boy doesn't like girl. Boy finally falls for girl." kind of movie.

It's set in the sixties with clothes and hair bring you back to an old episode of the Wonder Years. Any moment I expected to see Winnie in her braided pigtails on her bike.

It stars Madeline Carroll and Callan McAuliffe as the main girl and boy. Madeline has been a few movies lately... still not sure if I think she's any good as an actress. John Mahoney (from Frazier) played Chet who was the boy's Grandfather.

I wouldn't pay to see this if I were you. I wouldn't even rent it. I'd wait for it to be on TV and even then I'd probably turn the channel after the first two minuets.

Spring Cleaning in the Summer time

I'm going to post some things soon that is going to be disturbing to a few out there... A MESS!

So, it's been a year since I've been gainfully employed and you would think I could have a pristine house that is completely organized. Not so much the case. I know... bad Kim!

But... I do believe the hubs and I have finally reached a point after watching a little bit of Clean House. It's time to get organized! So... here goes.

Another fun week of diving... here's the newest finds:

This is a bike that you attach to the back of another bike... make it a double bike trip for you and your kiddo.

I found a box full of these little wood creatures.

Set of lamps.

Cute tin cups... I may just use them on the fence... but should add some flowers... or maybe sell them... not sure yet...

Lawn seeder... yes... we finally found one that wasn't broken!

Please tell me I'm the only one from a family that had one of these growing up? Now I have my own and it looks BRAND NEW!

A box of pots and pans... someone must of upgraded or got rid of their camper.

These are cute chairs... one blue and one yellow. Adorable if you have the right color thing going on in your house... or... could be easily reupholstered.

An ottoman for my chairs that I found last week :) Need to get a new cushion but then again I have to get that for the chair too!
New umbrella base and pole. The one before didn't tilt or crank.
